They won the fluoride lawsuit!

Food and Water Watch, Moms Against Fluoridation, other non profits, individuals, and the Fluoride Action Network have been working since 2016 to get the EPA to examine the practice of adding fluoride, a known neurotoxin, to drinking water.

They sued, and the EPA drug the case out for SEVEN YEARS!  The stalling was epic.  Finally on September 24th 2024, a US District Court in California Court ruled that;

“fluoridation of water at 0.7 milligrams per liter (“mg/L”) – the level presently considered “optimal” in the United States – poses an unreasonable risk of reduced IQ in children.”

Wait! What?  Isn’t fluoride good for us?

The short answer is, Nope!

We have had evidence since at least the 1920’s.  The dangers of fluoride to health were well documented by the 1930’s.  Kaj Eli Roholm studied workers exposed to fluoride and documented crippling arthritis, hardening of ligaments, skin rashes and stomach problems.  He suspected fluoride caused neurological problems.  Roholm confirmed research done at Johns Hopkins in 1925 proving that fluoride exposure caused mottling (tooth discoloration), and weakening of teeth resulting in damage, and cavities.

Every tube of fluoride containing toothpaste carries the following warning.

“Keep out of reach of children under 6 yrs. of age. If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.”

Throughout the trial the EPA never disputed that fluoride is neurotoxic.

It has long been know that the levels of fluoride in water pose a health risk to babies born to mothers drinking fluoridated water, particularly those whose only nourishment is from formula made with fluoridated water.  The neurotoxic effects of fluoride have been proven to lower the IQ of these children.

This case has brought to light that the claims made by the American Dental Association, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control that fluoride in drinking water is safe, were just that, claims.  There was no evidence to support them.

So what happened?

As in many things you just need to follow the money.  I will refer you to Christopher Bryson’s Book The Fluoride Deception for more details.

How does this impact you?

If you have well water or other non municipal source of water you may have some naturally occurring fluoride in your water but there would not be any added.

If you have “city water” or any water piped into your home where you pay a monthly utility bill your water is likely treated and MAY have fluoride added to it.  Local authorities responsible for providing drinking water provide yearly reports on the results of water quality testing.  If you have never looked at one of these reports now is a good time.  Just call the number on your water bill or go to their website.  You should easily be able to find a recent water quality report. This will detail if fluoride is added to your water.  If you do have fluoride added to your water, give them a call and let them know you would like them to stop.
