The Standard American Diet (SAD) is a major cause of poor health, obesity, and early death in this country. Unfortunately, the cheapest and easiest on the go food is often the worst for you. Good health and proper nutrition takes a commitment. I encourage you to make it a priority and plan meals ahead. Make sure you have snacks in your car and at work or school which are healthy. I often carry fresh fruits, especially apples and oranges which don't easily squish in a purse or back pack. Nuts are a great healthful snack particularly if you prepare them with this crispy nut recipe to make them easier to digest. Carrots and celery also pack well, and you can get individual serving peanut butter packets at the health food store which travel really well. I also often take hard boiled eggs with me when I know I will be out of the house much of the day. Planning ahead with some healthy options can really help resist the temptations of fast unhealthy foods.
